Apparatus, method and system to select content from history information representing previously reproduced content

A reproduction control method for an information processing apparatus, wherein the information processing apparatus is connectable to a contents supply server, in which data of a plurality of contents classified into a plurality of classifications in accordance with a predetermined standard is stored in the contents supply server and acquirable via a network for reproduction by each of a plurality of renderers, said method comprising:

• associating, as history information, type information indicating classification of identification information identifying one or more contents reproduced by a respective renderer of the plurality of renders, and the one or more contents, and storing the history information;
• receiving an input of a reproduction request for a desired renderer which includes a desired type information, searching the history information for the desired renderer based on the desired type information, and determining content of a reproduction object based on the search;
• transmitting an instruction to acquire the determined content, and reproduce the determined content to the desired renderer, via the network;
• and
• updating the history information to indicate, for the determined content reproduced by the desired renderer, the desired renderer and classification information for the determined content.

A non-transitory recording medium configured to store a program executable by a computer, the program comprising a reproduction control method for an information processing apparatus, wherein the information processing apparatus is connectable to a contents supply server, in which data of a plurality of contents classified into a plurality of classifications in accordance with a predetermined standard is stored in the contents supply server and acquirable via a network for reproduction by each of a plurality of renderers, the program comprising:

• associating, as history information, type information indicating classification of identification information identifying one or more contents reproduced by a respective renderer of the plurality of renders, and the one or more contents, and storing the history information;
• receiving an input of a reproduction request for a desired renderer which includes a desired type information, searching the history information for the desired renderer based on the desired type information, and determining content of a reproduction object based on the search;
• transmitting an instruction to acquire the determined content, and reproduce the determined content to the desired renderer, via the network;
• and
• updating the history information to indicate, for the determined content reproduced by the desired renderer, the desired renderer and classification information for the determined content.

A contents playback system comprising:

• a contents supply server, in which data of a plurality of contents classified into a plurality of classifications in accordance with a predetermined standard is stored in the contents supply server and acquirable via a network for reproduction by each of a plurality of renderers;
• and
• at least one information processing apparatus including:
• a storage to associate, as history information, type information indicating classification of identification information identifying one or more contents reproduced by a respective renderer of the plurality of renderers, and the one or more contents, and to store the history information;
• an input unit to receive an input of a reproduction request for a desired renderer which includes a desired type information, to search the history information for the desired renderer based on the desired type information, and to determine content of a reproduction object based on the search;
• an instruction transmission unit to transmit an instruction to acquire the determined content, and reproduce the determined content to the desired renderer, via the network;
• and
• an updating unit to update the history information stored by the storage to indicate, for the determined content reproduced by the desired renderer, the desired renderer and classification information for the determined content.

A contents playback system comprising:

• at least one information processing apparatus connectable to a contents supply server, in which data of a plurality of contents classified into a plurality of classifications in accordance with a predetermined standard is stored in the contents supply server and acquirable via a network for reproduction by each of a plurality of renderers,
• said information processing apparatus including:
• a storage to associate, as history information, type information indicating classification of identification information identifying one or more contents reproduced by a respective renderer of the plurality of renderers, and the one or more contents, and to store the history information;
• an input unit to receive an input of a reproduction request for a desired renderer which includes a desired type information, to search the history information for the desired renderer based on the desired type information, and to determine content of a reproduction object based on the search;
• an instruction transmission unit to transmit an instruction to acquire the determined content, and reproduce the determined content to the desired renderer, via the network;
• and
• an updating unit to update the history information stored by the storage to indicate, for the determined content reproduced by the desired renderer, the desired renderer and classification information for the determined content;
• and
• a renderer of the plurality of renderers.
