Abstract
This invention encompasses rubber modified asphalt cement compositions, as well as systems, apparatuses, methods for preparing, as well as methods for using rubber-modified asphalt cement compositions.
Claims20
A method to prepare rubber-modified asphalt cement, comprising:
- i) mixing rubber granules and asphalt to form a mixture;
- ii) integrating the mixture with a high shear mixer (a) at a temperature of at least 510° F., and (b) for less than 90 minutes;
- and
- iii) collecting the rubber-modified asphalt cement, the rubber-modified asphalt cement comprising rubber particles, the rubber particles having an average size of less than 1 micron.
