Abstract
A liquid cartridge includes a first surface and a second surface facing a particular direction, with a liquid outlet through the first surface. A circuit board is mounted on the second surface, and a liquid detection mechanism including a light access portion extends above the second surface further than the circuit board in the particular direction.
Claims33
A liquid cartridge, comprising:
- a first surface;
- a second surface facing a particular direction;
- a third surface opposite the second surface, the first surface extending between the second and third surfaces;
- a fourth surface opposite the first surface extending between the second and third surfaces;
- a liquid chamber between the first, second, third and fourth surfaces
- a liquid outlet through the first surface and in selective fluid communication with the liquid chamber;
- a circuit board mounted on the second surface;
- and
- a liquid detection mechanism including a light access portion extending above the second surface further than the circuit board in the particular direction,
- wherein the liquid detection mechanism is configured to change a state of light entering the light access portion above the second surface farther than the circuit board in the particular direction passing from a first point toward a second point according to an amount of the liquid stored in the liquid cartridge.

A liquid cartridge, comprising:
- a bottom surface,
- a top surface opposite the bottom surface,
- a front surface extending between the top and the bottom surfaces;
- a liquid outlet through the front surface of the liquid cartridge;
- a circuit board mounted on the top surface of the liquid cartridge;
- and
- a liquid detection mechanism having a light access portion extending above the top surface of the liquid cartridge, wherein the liquid detection mechanism is configured to change a state of light entering the light access portion above the top surface.
4 more elements
A liquid cartridge, including:
- a bottom surface,
- a top surface opposite the bottom surface,
- a front surface extending between the top and the bottom surfaces;
- a liquid outlet through the front surface of the liquid cartridge;
- a circuit board mounted on the top surface of the liquid cartridge;
- and
- an insertion detection mechanism having a light attenuating wall extending above the top surface further than the circuit board in an upward direction.
