Abstract
Present invention relates to a device for controlled release of a bioactive agent. The device comprises a thin film located on the surface of the device, wherein said thin film comprises a bioactive agent-containing layer comprising a polymeric matrix and at least one bioactive agent.

A device for controlled release of a bioactive agent, the device comprising a thin film located on the surface of the device, wherein said thin film comprises a bioactive agent-containing layer comprising a polymeric matrix and at least one bioactive agent, wherein the thin film further comprises a release layer between the bioactive agent-containing layer and the device surface, and wherein the thin film further comprises an adhesive layer on top of the bioactive agent-containing layer, wherein the bioactive agent-containing layer lies between the adhesive layer and the device surface, wherein the adhesion force between the adhesive layer and target tissue is larger than the adhesion force between the release layer and the device surface to allow delaminating of the thin film from the device surface and adhering of the thin film to the target tissue.
