Abstract
The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for managing a user equipment (UE), by a base station (eNodeB), in a wireless communication system supporting a proximity service (ProSe). More particularly, the method comprises the steps of: determining the connection state of a UE; and starting a radio resource control (RRC) inactivity timer when the connection state of the UE is idle, wherein the connection state is determined according to whether the UE performs infrastructure communication and whether the UE performs ProSe communication.
Claims9
A method for managing a User Equipment (UE) by an eNodeB in a wireless communication system supporting a Proximity Service (ProSe), the method comprising:
- determining a connected state of the UE according to whether the UE performs infrastructure communication and whether the UE performs ProSe communication;
- determining whether or not to start a Radio Resource Control (RRC) inactivity timer based on the connected state of the UE,
- wherein if at least one of the infrastructure communication and the ProSe communication is performed, the RRC inactivity timer is determined not to start, and
- wherein if both of the infrastructure communication and the ProSe communication are not performed, the RRC inactivity timer is determined to start;
- and
- performing an S1 release procedure when the RRC inactivity timer expires, if both of the infrastructure communication and the ProSe communication are not performed.
A network entity of a wireless communication system supporting a Proximity Service (ProSe), the network entity comprising:
- a radio frequency unit;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- determine a connected state of a User Equipment (UE) according to whether the UE performs infrastructure communication and whether the UE performs ProSe communication,
- determine whether or not to start a Radio Resource Control (RRC) inactivity timer based on the connected state of the UE,
- wherein if at least one of the infrastructure communication and the ProSe communication is performed, the RRC inactivity timer is determined not to start, and
- wherein if both of the infrastructure communication and the ProSe communication are not performed, the RRC inactivity timer is determined to start, and
- perform an S1 release procedure when the RRC inactivity timer expires, if both of the infrastructure communication and the ProSe communication are not performed.
