Abstract
A device and a method are disclosed. The device connected to a local area network, includes one or more processors, a machine-readable medium including instructions stored therein, which, when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations including broadcasting, by the device, a message wherein the message includes wireless network access credentials of the local area network, detecting, by the device, the presence of one or more devices in response to the broadcasting, prompting a user on a wireless user device for authentication of the one or more devices, and adding the one or more devices to a user account based on a response to the authentication.
Claims24
A first Internet of Things (IoT) device connected to a local area network comprising:
- one or more processors;
- a machine-readable medium comprising instructions stored therein, which, when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- broadcasting, by the first IoT device, a message, wherein the message comprises wireless network access credentials to connect to an access point (AP) of the local area network;
- detecting, by the first IoT device, the presence of one or more other IoT devices in response to the broadcasting, the response comprising at least identification information of the one or more other IoT devices;
- prompting, by the first IoT device, a user on a wireless user device for authentication of the one or more other IoT devices;
- and
- adding the one or more other IoT devices to a user account of the user based on a response to the authentication.
A method comprising:
- broadcasting, by a first Internet of Things (IoT) device connected to a local area network, a message, wherein the message comprises wireless network access credentials to connect to an access point (AP) of the local area network;
- detecting, by the first IoT device, the presence of one or more other IoT devices in response to the broadcasting, the response comprising at least identification information of the one or more other IoT devices;
- prompting, by the first IoT device, a user on a wireless user device for authentication of the one or more other IoT devices;
- and
- adding the one or more other IoT devices to a user account of the user based on a response to the authentication.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising instructions stored therein, which, when executed by one or more processors of a processing system cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- broadcasting, by a first Internet of Things (IoT) device connected to a local area network, a message, wherein the message comprises a wireless network access credentials to connect to an access point (AP) to the local area network;
- detecting, by the first IoT device, the presence of one or more other IoT devices in response to the broadcasting, the response comprising at least identification information of the one or more other IoT devices;
- prompting, by the first IoT device, a user on a wireless user device for authentication of the one or more other IoT devices;
- and
- adding the one or more other IoT devices to a user account of the user based on a response to the authentication.
