Systems and methods to process a request received at an application program interface

A method to process a request, the method comprising:

• receiving a request over a network, wherein the request is received from a client machine at an application program interface and the request comprises a job that indicates a set of tasks to be performed;
• in response to receipt of the job, generating a job event and processing the job event for a predetermined amount of time, wherein processing of the job event includes:
• generating a plurality of sub-jobs by dividing the job into one or more quantities of work, wherein each sub-job of the plurality of sub-jobs includes at least one task of the set of tasks;
• scheduling the plurality of sub-jobs for parallel processing by a peer-to-peer network based at least partially on an availability of resources that are utilized by the sub-jobs;
• parallel processing the plurality of sub-jobs to generate task results that are associated with the plurality of sub-jobs;
• and
• moving one or more sub-jobs of the plurality of sub-jobs to a sub-job retry queue based on the availability of resources, wherein the moving of the one or more sub jobs to the sub job retry queue makes the one or more sub jobs visible to one or more processing modules of the peer-to-peer network to which the one or more sub jobs were not previously visible;
• in response to expiration of the predetermined amount of time, moving the job event to a job retry queue for an associated time out;
• and
• in response to expiration of the associated time out, retrieving the job event from the job retry queue for further processing.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, in response to being executed by one or more processors, cause performance of or control performance of operations comprising:

• receiving a request over a network, wherein the request is received from a client machine at an application program interface and the request comprises a job that indicates a set of tasks to be performed;
• in response to receipt of the job, generating a job event and processing the job event for a predetermined amount of time, wherein processing of the job event includes:
• generating a plurality of sub-jobs by dividing the job into one or more quantities of work, wherein each sub-job of the plurality of sub-jobs includes at least one task of the set of tasks;
• scheduling the plurality of sub jobs for parallel processing based at least partially on an availability of resources that are utilized by the sub-jobs;
• parallel processing the plurality of sub-jobs to generate task results that are associated with the plurality of sub-jobs;
• and
• moving one or more sub-jobs of the plurality of sub-jobs to a sub-job retry queue based on the availability of resources, wherein the moving of the one or more sub jobs to the sub job retry queue makes the one or more sub jobs visible to one or more processing modules of a peer-to-peer network to which the one or more sub jobs were not previously visible;
• in response to expiration of the predetermined amount of time, moving the job event to a job retry queue for an associated time out;
• and
• in response to expiration of the associated time out, retrieving the job event from the job retry queue for further processing.
