Abstract
An Access Point (AP) performs a Multi-User (MU) transmission by allocating a plurality of resources of an Up-Link (UL) MU transmission to a first plurality of stations, and by transmitting, using one or more 20 MHz channels, a Down-Link (DL) PHY Layer Convergence Procedure (PLCP) Protocol Data Unit (PPDU). The DL PPDU includes trigger information. The trigger information solicits the first plurality of stations to participate in the UL MU transmission using the allocated resources. All of the allocated resources may be in the one or more 20 MHz channels of the DL PPDU. The allocated resources may include at least one resource in each of the one or more 20 MHz channels of the DL PPDU.
Claims20
A method implemented by an Access Point (AP) for performing a Multi-User (MU) transmission, the method comprising:
- allocating, by the AP, a plurality of resources of an Up-Link (UL) MU transmission to a plurality of stations;
- and
- transmitting, by the AP using a downlink (DL) bandwidth that spans one or more 20 MHz channels, a Down-Link (DL) PHY Layer Convergence Procedure (PLCP) Protocol Data Unit (PPDU), wherein the DL PPDU includes trigger information within one or more trigger Medium Access Control (MAC) Data Protocol Units (MPDUs), wherein the trigger information solicits the plurality of stations to participate in the UL MU transmission using the allocated resources and includes resource allocation information, wherein the resource allocation information indicates a plurality of assignments to respective stations in the plurality of stations of respective one or more resource units in the allocated plurality of resources,
- wherein each of the one or more trigger MPDUs includes a portion of the resource allocation information and each of the one or more trigger MPDUs is transmitted using respective trigger bandwidths not used by any other of the one or more trigger MPDUs,
- wherein each of the trigger bandwidths is within the DL bandwidth of the DL PPDU,
- wherein all of the allocated resources are in the one or more 20 MHz channels of the DL PPDU, and
- wherein a trigger MPDU of the one or more trigger MPDUs includes a respective portion of the resource allocation information, the respective portion of the resource allocation information including allocation information only for a resource unit that is at least partially outside the respective trigger bandwidth of the trigger MPDU and is within the DL bandwidth of the DL PPDU.
An apparatus comprising an Access Point (AP), the AP comprising:
- a processor for allocating a plurality of resources of an Up-Link (UL) MU transmission to a plurality of stations;
- and
- a transceiver for transmitting, using a downlink (DL) bandwidth that spans one or more 20 MHz channels, a Down-Link (DL) PHY Layer Convergence Procedure (PLCP) Protocol Data Unit (PPDU), wherein the DL PPDU includes trigger information within one or more trigger Medium Access Control (MAC) Data Protocol Units (MPDUs), wherein the trigger information solicits the plurality of stations to participate in the UL MU transmission using the allocated resources and includes resource allocation information, wherein the resource allocation information indicates a plurality of assignments to respective stations in the plurality of stations respective one or more resource units in the allocated plurality of resources,
- wherein each of the one or more trigger MPDUs includes a portion of the resource allocation information and each of the one or more trigger MPDUs is transmitted using respective trigger bandwidths not used by any other of the one or more trigger MPDUs,
- wherein each of the trigger bandwidths is within the DL bandwidth of the DL PPDU,
- wherein the allocated resources include at least one resource in each of the one or more 20 MHz channels, and
- wherein a trigger MPDU of the one or more trigger MPDUs includes a respective portion of the resource allocation information, the respective portion of the resource allocation information including allocation information only for a resource unit that is at least partially outside the respective trigger bandwidth of the trigger MPDU and is within the DL bandwidth of the DL PPDU.
