Ion exchange membrane, method of preparing the same, and redox flow battery comprising the same

An anion exchange membrane for a redox flow battery, the anion exchange membrane comprising

• a porous substrate;
• and
• a polymer disposed in the porous substrate,
• wherein the polymer is a polymerization product of a composition for forming an ion exchange membrane, wherein the composition comprises a first monomer and a second monomer,
• wherein the first monomer is substituted with a group comprising an ethylenic unsaturated double bond and comprises a cationic heterocyclic compound comprising a nitrogen heteroatom and a counter anion thereof,
• wherein the cationic heterocyclic compound is an imidazolium compound represented by Formula 1 below:
• wherein R1 to R5 are each independently hydrogen, a C1-C10 alkyl group, or a C2-C10 alkenyl group,
• wherein one of R2 and R3 is a C1-C10 alkyl group, and
• wherein an other of R2 and R3 is a C2-C10 alkenyl group, and
• wherein the second monomer is polymerizable with the first monomer and is at least one selected from a (meth)acrylamide compound and a (meth)acrylate compound.
