Fiber optic cable packaging arrangement

A fiber optic assembly comprising:

• a spool assembly comprising:
• a flange arrangement, the flange arrangement including a first flange and a second flange that project radially outward;
• a drum extending axially between the first and second flanges, each one of the first and second flanges has an outer surface that faces axially away from the drum, each one of the first and second flanges has an inner surface that faces toward each other, the first and second flanges each defining an outer annular rim that projects radially outwardly from the drum of the spool assembly;
• and
• a storage area located within the drum at least partially between the inner surfaces of the first and second flanges, the storage area being accessible through an opening defined by the outer surface of at least one of the first and second flanges;
• and
• a fiber optic component being removably positioned within the storage area of the spool assembly and being accessible through the opening defined by the outer surface of at least one of the first and second flanges.
