Abstract
A hot applied thermoplastic pavement composition, comprises; a modified polyamide resin in the range of between 3 and 10 percent by weight, wherein the composition contains rosin-modified esters, a copolymer, 30-70 percent by weight of a glass bead intermix, a range of between 1 and 15 percent by weight of either white or yellow pigment, the balance of the composition being selected from the group consisting of; one or more plasticizers, inorganic fillers, waxes, antioxidants and light stabilizers. A method of applying the composition to a roadway includes heating the composition and/or the roadway.
Claims18
A hot applied thermoplastic pavement marking composition comprising:
- modified polyamide resin in the range of between 3 and 10 percent by weight, wherein said composition contains rosin-modified esters, a copolymer, between 30 and 70 percent by weight of a glass bead intermix, a range of between 1 and 15 percent by weight of either white or yellow pigment, the balance being selected from the group consisting of;
- one or more plasticizers, inorganic fillers, waxes, antioxidants and light stabilizers, wherein said esters are selected from the group consisting of a pentaerythritol modified ester, a maleic modified glycerol rosin ester and ethylene maleic anhydride and wherein said inorganic fillers include at least an amount that is half an amount required for conventional AASHTO M 249-09 hot applied pavement marker compositions.
A method for applying a hot applied thermoplastic pavement composition comprising:
- modified polyamide resin in the range of between 3 and 10 percent by weight, wherein said composition contains rosin-modified esters, a copolymer, between 30 and 70 percent by weight of a glass bead intermix, a range of between 1 and 15 percent by weight of either white or yellow pigment, the balance being selected from the group consisting of;
- one or more plasticizers, inorganic fillers, waxes, antioxidants and light stabilizers by applying said composition to any paved surface by heating either said pavement surface or said composition or by heating both during applying and wherein said esters are selected from the group consisting of a pentaerythritol modified ester, a maleic modified glycerol rosin ester and ethylene maleic anhydride and wherein said inorganic fillers include at least an amount that is half an amount required for conventional AASHTO M 249-09 hot applied pavement marker compositions.
