Abstract
The present invention relates to a hormone containing oil-in-water emulsion for parenteral administration comprising a) progestogen and/or estrogen and b) fish oil triglycerides, wherein the fish oil triglyceride consists of glycerol which is esterified with fatty acids wherein said fatty acids comprise eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in an amount of at least 45% by weight of said fatty acids.
Claims11
A hormone containing oil-in-water emulsion for parenteral administration, wherein an oil component of the oil-in-water emulsion comprises
- a) progestogen and/or estrogen;
- b) fish oil triglycerides, wherein the fish oil triglycerides consist of glycerol which is esterified with fatty acids wherein said fatty acids comprise eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in an amount of at least 45% by weight of said fatty acids, wherein the fish oil triglycerides are present in an amount ranging from 70 wt. % to 95 wt. % based on the total weight of the oil component;
- and
- c) medium chain triglycerides (MCT), where the MCT are present in an amount ranging from 5 wt. % to 30 wt. % based on the total weight of the oil component.
