Abstract
A biomedical sensor system is disclosed that includes a plurality of electrodes and a contiguous adhesive material that is in contact with each of the plurality of electrodes. In certain embodiments a method is provided that includes the step of applying a first surface of adhesive material to a patient wherein the adhesive material includes at least two electrodes on second surface thereof that is opposite the first surface. The method also includes the step of receiving a time varying signal a first electrode of the at least two electrodes at a first location such that the time varying signal is not received at a second electrode of the at least two electrodes.
Claims19
A method of detecting a time varying signal from a subject, said method comprising the steps of:
- applying a first surface of a polymeric material to a subject, wherein said polymeric material is anisotropic and includes a polar material that is responsive to the presence of an alternating electric field, said polymeric material having at least two electrodes on a second surface thereof that is opposite the first surface;
- and receiving a time varying signal at a first electrode of the at least two electrodes at a first location, wherein the time varying signal is not received at a second electrode of the at least two electrodes.
A method of detecting a time varying signal from a patient, said method comprising the steps of:
- applying a first surface of an adhesive material to a patient, wherein said adhesive material is anisotropic and is provided at a thickness of less than about 500 microns yet provides total peel strength of at least about 600 gram/inch, said adhesive material including a polar material that is responsive to the presence of an alternating electric field;
- and receiving a time varying signal at a first electrode that is in contact with a second surface of the adhesive material that is opposite the first surface, and not receiving the time varying signal at a second electrode that is in contact with the second surface of the adhesive.
A method of detecting a time varying signal from a subject, said method comprising the steps of:
- receiving the time varying signal from the subject at a first side of an anisotropic polymeric material, said anisotropic polymeric material including a polar material that is responsive to the presence of an alternating electric field;
- and providing a first output signal to a first conductive electrode on an opposing second side of the polymeric material, while not providing the first output signal to a second conductive electrode on the opposing second side of the polymeric material responsive to the first time varying signal even though the polymeric material is contiguous with both the first and second conductive electrodes.
A method of detecting a time varying signal from a subject, said method comprising the steps of:
- receiving the time varying signal from the subject at a first side of a contiguous polymeric material, said contiguous polymeric material being anisotropic and including a polar material;
- permitting a first set of polar material within the contiguous polymeric material to undergo a change responsive to the presence of the time varying signal from the subject, while a second set of polar material within the contiguous polymeric material does not undergo the change;
- and providing a first output signal from a first conductive electrode that is proximate the first set of polar material responsive to the time varying signal from the subject, and not providing the first output signal from a second conductive electrode that is proximate the second set of polar material.
