Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH706941. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH706941, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH706941 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH706941.
Claims21
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH706941, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV010962 with a second plant of variety CV032539, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV010962 and CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-123070 and PTA-123057, respectively.
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH706941 further comprising a first single locus conversion, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV010962 with a second plant of variety CV032539, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV010962 and CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-123070 and PTA-123057, respectively, and wherein one or both of the first plant and second plant further comprises the single locus conversion, and wherein a plant grown from said seed comprises a trait conferred by said first single locus conversion.
A method of introducing a heritable trait into hybrid corn variety CH706941, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing at least the heritable trait into at least a first inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of variety CV010962 and variety CV032539 to produce a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the heritable trait, wherein the heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing, wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a plant of variety CV010962 or variety CV032539 further comprising the heritable trait, and wherein representative seed of variety CV010962 and variety CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-123070 and PTA-123057, respectively;
- and
- (b) crossing said plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries the heritable trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV010962 and CV032539 to produce a plant of said hybrid corn variety CH706941 further comprising the heritable trait.
