Abstract
According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the hybrid corn variety designated CH070904. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CH070904, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CH070904 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to genetic complements of plants of variety CH070904.
Claims21
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH070904, produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV342520 with a second plant of variety CV032539, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV342520 and CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-121222 and PTA-123057, respectively.
A corn seed produced by crossing
- (a) a plant of variety CV032539, or a selfed progeny thereof, having a transgene introduced by backcrossing or transformation, with a plant of variety CV342520,
- (b) a plant of variety CV342520, or a selfed progeny thereof, having a transgene introduced by backcrossing or transformation, with a plant of variety CV032539, or
- (c) a plant of variety CV342520, or a selfed progeny thereof, having a transgene introduced by backcrossing or transformation, with a plant of variety CV032539, or a selfed progeny thereof, having a transgene introduced by backcrossing or transformation,
- wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a plant further comprising a transgene and otherwise all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CV342520 or corn variety CV032539, and wherein representative seed of said varieties CV342520 and CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-121222 and PTA-123057, respectively, and wherein said transgene is inherited by said corn seed.
A seed of hybrid corn variety CH070904 further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein said seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety CV342520 with a second plant of variety CV032539, wherein representative seed of said varieties CV342520 and CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-121222 and PTA-123057, respectively, and wherein one or both of the first plant and second plant further comprises said single locus conversion, and wherein a plant grown from said seed comprises a trait conferred by said single locus conversion.
A method of introducing a heritable trait into hybrid corn variety CH070904, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing at least said heritable trait into at least a first inbred corn variety selected from the group consisting of variety CV342520 and variety CV032539 to produce a plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries said heritable trait, wherein said heritable trait is introduced into said first inbred corn variety by backcrossing, wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce a plant further comprising a heritable trait, and wherein representative seed of variety CV342520 and variety CV032539 have been deposited under ATCC Accession numbers PTA-121222 and PTA-123057, respectively;
- and
- (b) crossing said plant of the first inbred corn variety that heritably carries said heritable trait with a plant of a different variety selected from said group consisting of CV342520 and CV032539 to produce a plant of said hybrid corn variety CH070904 further comprising said heritable trait.
A plant of hybrid corn variety CH070904 further comprising a transgene, wherein said plant otherwise comprises all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CH070904 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
