Abstract
A method of producing a homopolymer or random copolymer of hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether by polymerizing a monomer component comprising at least one hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether using an oil-soluble radical polymerization initiator in the absence or presence of a solvent.
Claims9
A method of producing a homopolymer of a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether, said method comprising the step of polymerizing vinyl ether monomer components only, using an organic azo compound as an oil-soluble radical polymerization initiator in the absence or presence of a solvent, said monomer components consisting of a first hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether, said first hydroxyl group-containing vinyl ether represented by the following formula (1):
- CH2═CH—O—R1OH)n (1)
- wherein R1 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or an alkoxy alkyl group having 3 to 7 carbon atoms, which is optionally branched and optionally comprises a cyclic structure;
- and n is 1 to 5,
- wherein said homopolymer has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) within the range of 3000 to 100,000.
