Abstract
Described are gas flow disruption alarms. The alarms can include a gas inlet; a gas outlet configured to couple to a gas delivery device; and a vibration member between the gas inlet and the gas outlet configured to produce an audible sound when a gas delivery device is removed from the gas outlet.
Claims14
A gas flow disruption alarm comprising:
- a body portion including a proximal end and a distal end;
- a gas inlet;
- an internal pipe including a gas outlet configured to couple to a gas delivery device at a first end and the internal pipe extending beyond the proximal end of the body portion at a second end;
- and
- a vibration member located between the gas inlet and the gas outlet,
- wherein the body portion is sealed against the internal pipe thereby creating an internal volume between an interior surface of the body portion and an exterior surface of the internal pipe,
- and wherein the vibration member is configured to seal the proximal end of the body portion and extend over the second end of the internal pipe thereby sealing the internal pipe from the internal volume;
- and
- wherein the vibration member is configured to produce an audible sound when the gas delivery device is removed from the gas outlet.

A method of alerting that oxygen flow to a patient has been disconnected, the method comprising:
- attaching a gas flow disruption alarm between an oxygen gas source and a patient oxygen delivery line, wherein the gas flow disruption alarm is configured to produce an audible sound when the patient oxygen delivery line is disconnected from the gas flow disruption alarm,
- wherein the gas flow disruption alarm includes a body portion including a proximal end and a distal end;
- a gas inlet configured to attach to the oxygen gas source, an internal pipe including a gas outlet configured to couple to the patient oxygen delivery line at a first end and the internal pipe extending beyond the proximal end of the body portion at a second end;
- and
- a vibration member between the gas inlet and the gas outlet;
- wherein the body portion is sealed against the internal pipe thereby creating an internal volume between an interior surface of the body portion and an exterior surface of the internal pipe,
- and wherein the vibration member is configured to seal the proximal end of the body portion and extend over the second end of the internal pipe thereby sealing the internal pipe from the internal volume;
- and
- wherein the vibration member is configured to produce an audible sound when the gas delivery device is removed from the gas outlet.
