A system comprising:
- a database to store extraction data corresponding to one or more sample materials obtained from a resource production field during at least one of a drilling, completion, or production activity, the extraction data including microbiome data corresponding to the one or more sample materials;
- and
- a computer system including one or more memories and one or more processors, one or more computer instructions incorporated into the one or more memories to configure the one or more processors to perform an evaluation of the microbiome data, the evaluation comprising:
- generating, by the one or more processors, first derived microbiome data, the first derived microbiome data computationally linking a first subset of the microbiome data to a first zone of a plurality of subsurface zones associated with the resource production field based on a first set of time points at which a first subset of the sample materials was collected;
- generating, by the one or more processors, second derived microbiome data, the second derived microbiome data computationally linking a second subset of the microbiome data to a second subsurface zone of the plurality of subsurface zones based on a second set of time points at which a second subset of the sample materials was collected;
- determining, by the one or more processors, a contribution of the first subsurface zone and a contribution of the second subsurface zone to a production stream at the resource field at a third set of time points, the determining of the contribution based on a comparison of key microbial features identified from the first derived microbiome data and key microbial features identified from the second derived microbiome data to third derived microbiome data corresponding to sample materials obtained at the third set of time points;
- generating predictive microbiome data that includes a prediction of hydrocarbons at one or more locations;
- and
- causing display of the contribution of the first subsurface zone and the contribution of the second subsurface zone in a graphical user interface to assist an operator in creating an optimal plan for directing an additional production activity or an industrial operation at the resource production field with respect to at least one of well placement, drilling design, completion design, or production optimization, wherein the causing of the display includes generating a visualization of the prediction of the hydrocarbons at the one or more locations to assist the operator in identification of possible patterns.
