Abstract
A distiller including an evaporator having at least one evaporation surface for evaporating liquid into vapor. At least one movable liquid applicator assembly has a wiper applicator which can move over the at least one evaporation surface, for wiping and applying a thin even film of the liquid on the at least one evaporation surface for evaporation.
Claims20
A condenser arrangement for a distiller comprising:
- a condenser for receiving vapor comprising at least one condensing surface for condensing the vapor into distillate, at least two opposing spaced apart upright condensing surfaces facing each other and sealed to form at least one condenser gap therebetween, the at least one condenser gap having a sealed bottom end, and an opening at an upper end;
- a compressor for introducing the vapor under pressure into the upper end and downwardly into the at least one condenser gap, the vapor condensing on the upright condensing surfaces as a distillate;
- and
- at least one extractor assembly having at least one scraper for moving over the at least one condensing surface and scraping distillate from the at least one condensing surface for collection, the at least one extractor assembly being upright and movable within the at least one condenser gap for removing the distillate from the at least one condenser gap, the at least one scraper for scraping distillate from the upright condensing surfaces for collection at the bottom end of the at least one condenser gap, the at least one extractor assembly also including a distillate extraction channel having an entrance opening at about the bottom end of the at least one condenser gap for entry of the distillate for removal from the condenser, the pressure of the vapor entering the at least one condenser gap capable of forcing the distillate upwardly through the extraction channel and out of the condenser.

A method of condensing in a distiller comprising:
- receiving vapor on at least one condensing surface of a condenser for condensing the vapor into distillate, at least two opposing spaced apart upright condensing surfaces facing each other and sealed to form at least one condenser gap therebetween, the at least one condenser gap having a sealed bottom end, and an opening at an upper end;
- introducing the vapor under pressure with a compressor into the upper end and downwardly into the at least one condenser gap, the vapor condensing on the upright condensing surfaces as a distillate;
- and
- moving at least one extractor assembly having at least one scraper over the at least one condensing surface and scraping distillate from the at least one condensing surface for collection, the at least one extractor assembly being upright and movable within the at least one condenser gap for removing the distillate from the at least one condenser gap, the at least one scraper for scraping distillate from the upright condensing surfaces for collection at the bottom end of the at least one condenser gap, the at least one extractor assembly also including a distillate extraction channel having an entrance opening at about the bottom end of the at least one condenser gap for entry of the distillate for removal from the condenser, the pressure of the vapor entering the at least one condenser gap capable of forcing the distillate upwardly through the extraction channel and out of the condenser.
