Abstract
Disclosed are processes, products, and compositions having tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic acid. The processes include providing a pre-mix comprising an aromatic carboxylic acid component and contacting a tetraalkylguanidine with the aromatic carboxylic acid component in the pre-mix to form the tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid or producing a catalyst composition by contacting the tetraalkylguanidine with the aromatic carboxylic acid component to form the tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid. The compositions include the tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid. The product is formed by the tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid.
Claims27
A process, comprising:
- providing a pre-mix comprising an aromatic carboxylic acid component comprising phthalic acid;
- contacting a tetraalkylguanidine and at least one amine with the aromatic carboxylic acid component in the pre-mix to form a tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid and an amine salt of the aromatic carboxylic acid wherein the at least one amine comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of urethane gelling catalyst and urethane blowing catalyst;
- and,
- adding at least one isocyanate to form a polyurethane composition.
A process of producing a catalyst composition, the process comprising:
- contacting a tetraalkylguanidine with an aromatic carboxylic acid component comprising phthalic acid to form a tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid, contacting at least one amine with an acid to form an amine salt wherein the at least one amine comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of urethane gelling catalyst and urethane blowing catalyst and wherein the at least one amine is not reactive to an isocyanate, and mixing the tetraalkylguanidine salt and the amine salt.
A process of producing a catalyst composition, the process comprising:
- mixing tetraalkylguanidine and at least one amine wherein the at least one amine comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of urethane gelling catalyst and urethane blowing catalyst and wherein the at least one amine is not reactive to an isocyanate, and;
- adding at least one carboxylic acid comprising phthalic acid to form an amine salt and a tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid.
A process, comprising:
- providing a pre-mix comprising at least one polyol, at least one aromatic carboxylic acid comprising phthalic acid and an amine salt wherein the amine salt comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of urethane gelling catalyst salt and urethane blowing catalyst salt;
- contacting a tetraalkylguanidine with the pre-mix to form a tetraalkylguanidine salt of aromatic carboxylic acid;
- and
- adding at least one isocyanate to form a polyurethane composition.
A process, comprising:
- providing a pre-mix consisting essentially of at least one polyol, at least one tetraalkylguanidine salt of phthalic acid and at least one amine salt wherein the amine salt comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of urethane gelling catalyst salt and urethane blowing catalyst salt, and;
- adding at least one isocyanate to the pre-mix to form a polyurethane composition.
