Abstract
A heat spreader for high volume manufacturing of a heat source, having a heat spreader composition which comprises a heat spreader material, an adhesive thereon, and a release material. The adhesive and release material are selected to prevent delamination of the heat spreader material when the release material is removed during the high volume manufacturing process of heat sources.
Claims19
A heat spreader for use a display panel having a plurality of heat sources, comprising:
- a heat spreader composite, which comprises a heat spreader material comprising at least one sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite, a pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive on a first major surface of the at least one sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite and a release material positioned such that the adhesive is sandwiched between the sheet and the release material, wherein the release material and pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive are selected such that the release material is removed at a rate of release that prevents delamination of the graphite heat, spreader material wherein the release material and the pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive provide an average release load of the release material of no greater than 40 grams per centimeter at a release speed of one meter per second and further wherein the release material and pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive allow for the heat spreader composite to facilitate a high volume manufacturing process of display panels having a plurality of heat sources.
A heat spreader for use in a display panel having a plurality of heat sources, the heat spreader consisting of:
- at least one sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite having a first major surface a pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive on the first major surface and a release material positioned such that the pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive is sandwiched between the first major surface and the release material, wherein the release material and the pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive are selected such that the release material is removed at a rate of release that prevents delamination of the at least one sheet of compressed particles of exfoliated graphite wherein the release material and the pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive provide an average release load of the release material of no greater than 40 grams per centimeter at a release speed of one meter per second and further wherein the release material and pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive allow for the heat spreader to facilitate a high volume manufacturing process of display panels having a plurality of heat sources.
