Abstract
The invention relates to Eu2+-activated phosphors, to a process of its preparation, the use of these phosphors in electronic and electro optical devices, such as light emitting diodes (LEDs) and solar cells and especially to illumination units comprising said magnesium alumosilicate-based phosphors.

- wherein
- MII denotes one or more bivalent elements selected from the group of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn
- MIII denotes one or more trivalent elements selected from the group of B, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Gd, and Lu, and
- MV denotes one or more pentavalent elements selected from the Group of V, Nb, Ta, As, Sb, and Bi.
