Abstract
An insulated sleeve is provided to be coupled to an outer surface of a cup. The sleeve is formed from an insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material having an area of plastic deformation. There are no fractures in the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material so that a predetermined insulative characteristic is maintained in the material.
Claims28
An insulative sleeve for surrounding and embracing an exterior surface of a hot-beverage drink cup to provide a grippable low-temperature thermal barrier that can be gripped by a consumer, the sleeve comprising a sheet comprising insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material having localized plastic deformation in the sheet having a plastically deformed first material segment having a first density located in a first portion of the sheet and a second material segment having a second density lower than the first density located in an adjacent second portion of the sheet without fracturing the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material so that a predetermined insulative characteristic is maintained in the sheet,
- wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material comprises a polypropylene base resin, at least one nucleation agent, and at least one blowing agent configured to expand the polypropylene base resin to reduce density, and
- wherein the insulative cellular non-aromatic polymeric material further comprises a polypropylene secondary resin.
