Abstract
A method to prepare a self-decontaminating surface, where that method includes disposing a first coating on a surface, where that first coating comprises an organosilane, and disposing a second coating over the first coating, where the second coating comprises TiO2.
Claims10
A method of forming a self-decontaminating coating on a surface, comprising the steps of:
- (1) coating a surface with an aqueous mixture comprising 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride;
- and
- (2) subsequently coating the surface with an aqueous colloidal suspension of TiO2 thus forming said self-decontaminating coating on said surface,
- wherein said self-decontaminating coating exhibits a reduction in bacteria after initial inoculation of the coating with bacteria.
