Abstract
A focus detection device includes: an image sensor that includes a plurality of focus detection pixel rows, each having a plurality of focus detection pixels and each outputting a pair of focus detection signals; a spatial accumulation unit that calculates spatially accumulated values by adding together pairs of focus detection signals output from a first predetermined number of focus detection pixel rows among the plurality of focus detection pixel rows; and a focus detection unit that detects a focusing condition at an optical system based upon the spatially accumulated values.
Claims15
A focus detection device, comprising:
- an image sensor that includes a first number of focus detection units, each focus detection unit having a plurality of focus detection pixels disposed along a first direction, each focus detection pixel outputting a first signal and a second signal, and the first number of focus detection units arranged in a second direction that is different from the first direction;
- and
- a processor that calculates a first addition value by adding together first signals output from the focus detection pixels arranged along the second direction in the first number of focus detection units and calculates a second addition value by adding together second signals output from the focus detection pixels arranged along the second direction in the first number of focus detection units, the processor detecting a focusing condition at an optical system based upon the first addition value and the second addition value, wherein:
- until a first cumulative value based upon the first addition value and the second addition value exceeds a threshold value, the processor calculates the first addition value by adding together a second number of the first signals and calculates the second addition value by adding together the second number of the second signals, the second number being set so as not to exceed the first number.
