Abstract
One or more embodiments of the disclosure include methods and systems that allows for improved user navigation within a group of content items. For example, a content navigation system can identify a content item within a group of content items to provide to a user in response to a user interaction. In some embodiments, the content navigation system can identify a content item to provide to the user based on one or more factors, such as a characteristic of a user interaction and a relevance of a content item. In addition, the content navigation system can strategically provide advertisement content items to a user by adjusting one or more factors with respect to advertisement content items.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- providing a graphical user interface used to navigate a plurality of content items;
- detecting a user interaction with respect to the graphical user interface, the user interaction having a first characteristic and a second characteristic;
- identifying, using at least one processor, a subset of content items of the plurality of content items based on the first characteristic of the user interaction;
- determining a proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items, wherein a given proximity factor for a given content item corresponds to a proximity of the given content item to a target content item;
- adjusting the proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items based on the second characteristic of the user interaction;
- determining, for each content item in the subset of content items, a score based on combining a relevance factor and the adjusted proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items;
- identifying, using the at least one processor, a content item from the subset of content items based on the determined score for each content item in the subset of content items;
- and
- providing, within the graphical user interface, the identified content item.
A method comprising:
- providing a graphical user interface used to navigate a plurality of content items;
- detecting a user interaction with respect to the graphical user interface, the user interaction having a first characteristic and a second characteristic;
- identifying, using at least one processor, a target content item from the plurality of content items based on the first characteristic of the user interaction;
- determining a proximity factor for one or more content items within a proximity range relative to the target content item, wherein a given proximity factor for a given content item corresponds to a proximity of the given content item to the target content item;
- adjusting the proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items based on the second characteristic of the user interaction;
- determining a score for each of one or more content items within a proximity range relative to the target content item, the score based on a relevance factor associated with each of the one or more content items and a proximity factor associated with each of the one or more content items;
- identifying, using the at least one processor, a content item from the one or more content items based on the score for each of the one or more content items;
- and
- providing the identified content item to the user within the graphical user interface.
A mobile device, comprising:
- at least one processor;
- at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions thereon that,
- when executed by the at least one processor, cause the mobile device to:
- provide a graphical user interface used to navigate a plurality of content items;
- detect a user interaction with respect to the graphical user interface, the user interaction having a first characteristic and a second characteristic;
- identify a subset of content items of the plurality of content items based on the first characteristic of the user interaction;
- determine a proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items, wherein a given proximity factor for a given content item corresponds to a proximity of the given content item to a target content item;
- adjust the proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items based on the second characteristic of the user interaction;
- determine, for each content item in the subset of content items, a score based on combining a relevance factor and the adjusted proximity factor for each content item in the subset of content items;
- identify a content item from the subset of content items based on the determined score for each content item in the subset of content items;
- and
- provide, within the graphical user interface, the identified content item.
