Abstract
Systems, apparatuses, and method for synchronizing port entry into a lowest power state are described. All logic of a port placed into an intermediate state prior to entry into the lowest power state.
Claims26
An apparatus comprising:
- a transmitter;
- a receiver;
- a power controller to transition the transmitter and the receiver to a low power state, wherein the power controller to transition the transmitter and the receiver to a low power state, the power controller operable to
- halt a data transfer rate state of a device;
- transition the receiver and the transmitter to a first power saving state in response to the data transfer rate state being halted;
- in response to the receiver and the transmitter being in the first power saving state, transition the receiver to a second power saving state in which configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter is maintained, the second power saving state being a lower power consumption state than the first power saving state.
- in response to the receiver transitioning to the second power saving state that is to maintain configuration state for the receiver and the transmitter, transition the transmitter to the second power saving state.
A system comprising:
- a first device including a first transmitter and a first receiver;
- a second device including a second transmitter and a second receiver;
- a first physical line between the first transmitter of the first device and the second receiver of the second device;
- a second physical line between the second transmitter of the first device and the receive logic of the second device;
- wherein to transition the first receiver and the first transmitter to a lower power consumption state that maintains configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter, the first device includes a power controller that is operable to
- halt a data transfer rate state of the first device;
- transition the first receiver and the first transmitter to a first power saving state in response to the data transfer rate state being halted;
- in response to the first receiver and the first transmitter being in the first power saving state, transition the first receiver to a second power saving state in which configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter is maintained, the second power saving state being lower in power consumption than the first power saving state;
- in response to the first receiver transitioning to the second power saving state that maintains configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter, transition the first transmitter to the second power saving state.
A method for transitioning a receiver and a transmitter to a lowest power consumption state that maintains configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter, the method comprising:
- halting a data transfer rate state of the device;
- transitioning the receiver and the transmitter to a first power saving state in response to the data transfer rate state being halted;
- in response to the receiver and the transmitter being in the first power saving state, transitioning the receiver to a second power saving state in which configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter is maintained, the second power saving state being a lower power consumption state than the first power saving state;
- and
- in response to the receiver transitioning to the second power saving state that maintains configuration state for the receiver and the transmitter, transitioning the transmitter to the second power saving state.
An article of manufacture having one or more non-transitory computer readable media storing instructions which, when executed by a device, cause the device to perform a method for transitioning a receiver and a transmitter to a lowest power consumption state that maintains configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter, the method comprising:
- halting a data transfer rate state of the device;
- transitioning the receiver and the transmitter to a first power saving state in response to the data transfer rate state being halted;
- in response to the receiver and the transmitter being in the first power saving state, transitioning the receiver to a second power saving state in which configuration state for the first receiver and the first transmitter is maintained, the second power saving state being a lower power consumption state than the first power saving state;
- and
- in response to the receiver transitioning to the second power saving state that maintains configuration state for the receiver and the transmitter, transitioning the transmitter to the second power saving state.
