## Abstract

A tire direct-pressure shaping and electromagnetic induction heating curing method and apparatus uses an inner metal mold including large and small segments, a telescoping mechanism, supporting plates attached to the segments, and induction heating coils. A cavity in the middle of the segments is filled of phase change material. The temperature of the mold rises rapidly by the thermal effect of an eddy current generated on the surface of the segments to heat the green tire. When the middle part of the segment is heated to a certain temperature, the phase change material absorbs and stores the excess heat. Therefore, the temperature of the middle part of the segment differs from one of two ends of the segment. Once the tire is cured, the inner mold in the expanded condition and the outer mold support very high pressure for the green tire together.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An apparatus for direct-pressure shaping and electromagnetic induction heating curing a tire, comprising:
a central transmission mechanism including a piston rod extending through a base, an inner axial sleeve, and an outer axial sleeve, with one end of the inner axial sleeve and one end of the outer axial sleeve adjacent the base, another end of the inner axial sleeve being fixed on the piston rod through a clamping ring and a bolt, an axle end ring being fixed on a periphery of said another end of the inner axial sleeve by a positioning pin, the axle end ring adjacent another end of the outer axial sleeve, and the outer axial sleeve having a guide groove through which a hinge support connection to the inner axial sleeve extends;
an inner mold having a plurality of large segments and a plurality of small segments arranged in a radial direction, the large segments being larger than the small segments, each of the segments being fixedly connected to a supporting plate, the supporting plate of each of the segments being connected through a hinge to an end of an upper connecting rod and being connected through a hinge to an end of a lower connecting rod, another end of the upper connecting rod for each of the small segments being connected through a hinge to the axle end ring, another end of the lower connecting rod for each of the small segments being connected through the hinge support connection to the inner axial sleeve, another end of the upper connecting rod and another end of the lower connecting rod for each of the large segments being connected through a hinge to the outer axial sleeve, one end of a short connecting rod being connected through a hinge to a middle of the lower connecting rod for each of the segments, another end of the short connecting rod being connected through a hinge to the base; and
a heating device including two electromagnetic heating elements attached along a longitudinal centerline of each of the segments, each of the electromagnetic heating elements include an electromagnetic coil covered with an insulation layer which is covered by a shell, the electromagnetic coil for one of the two electromagnetic heating elements being in series or in parallel with the electromagnetic coil for the other of the two electromagnetic heating elements attached to each of the segments, the electromagnetic coil for each of the two electromagnetic heating elements being wound in a same winding direction extending through a longitudinal centerline of each of the segments and having a same inductance, and an inductance of the two electromagnetic heating elements attached to the supporting plate of each of the large segments being greater than an inductance of the two electromagnetic heating elements attached to the supporting plate of each of the small segments.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein each of the two electromagnetic heating elements include a “|” shaped electromagnetic core.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)
