Abstract
The subject invention is directed to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an open matrix network carrying a pharmaceutically active ingredient, wherein the open matrix network comprises both the polysaccharides levan and inulin.
Claims20
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a) an open matrix network comprising levan and inulin;
- and
- b) at least one pharmaceutically active ingredient chosen from desmopressin and desmopressin acetate carried by the open matrix network.
A process for preparing a pharmaceutical composition comprising subliming a solvent from a liquid preparation comprising a pharmaceutically active ingredient chosen from desmopressin and desmopressin acetate, and levan and inulin in the solvent.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a) a matrix carrying at least one pharmaceutically active ingredient chosen from desmopressin and desmopressin acetate;
- and
- b) the matrix comprising levan and inulin,
- wherein the matrix rapidly disintegrates upon contact with an aqueous medium or with saliva.
A process for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- (a) preparing a solution comprising levan, inulin and an active ingredient chosen from desmopressin and desmopressin acetate in a solvent;
- (b) freezing said solution;
- (c) subliming the solvent from the frozen solution,
- wherein the pharmaceutical composition so obtained disintegrates within 30 seconds upon contact with an aqueous solution or saliva.
