## Abstract

Example embodiments relate to a node and a method of controlling devices connected to the node. In example embodiments the devices may be, but are not required to be, lights.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A node comprising:
a microprocessor configured to control a light based on data received from a controller; and
an electronic memory configured to store a time value and at least one of a dim value and a script, wherein the microprocessor is configured to monitor communication between the node and the controller and, in the event communication between the controller and the microprocessor is interrupted for more than the time value, independently control the light by at least one of executing the script and controlling the light to have a dim level based on the dim value.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The node of claim 1, wherein the node includes a port configured to interface with an Ethernet cable.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The node of claim 1, wherein the electronic memory stores multiple control parameters.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The node of claim 1 wherein the controller going offline is the event when data communication between the controller and the microprocessor is interrupted.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

A system comprising:
the node of claim 1;
the controller; and
the light.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The system of claim 5, wherein the node includes a port configured to interface with an Ethernet cable.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The system of claim 5, wherein the electronic memory stores multiple control parameters.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The system of claim 5, wherein the controller going offline is the event when data communication between the controller and the microprocessor is interrupted.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The node of claim 1, wherein the controller is a network switch and the node includes a port configured to receive an Ethernet cable to receive data from the network switch.
