Abstract
A system and method for enhancing the real and/or perceived bass band of an audio signal is disclosed. A computationally simple yet effective bass band enhancement system for use in consumer electronics applications is disclosed. An audio processing system including bass enhancement functionality for use in a mobile audio system is disclosed.
Claims15
A method for bass enhancing an audio input signal to produce an enhanced output signal comprising:
- isolating a plurality of band signals from the audio input signal;
- amplifying one or more first band signals with an adjustable gain parameter to form a first enhanced signal;
- applying a psychoacoustic audio enhancement algorithm to one or more second band signals to form a second enhanced signal, wherein the psychoacoustic audio enhancement algorithm is controlled based on the one or more first band signals;
- delaying one or more third band signals to form a delayed signal;
- and
- mixing the delayed signal, the first enhanced signal and the second enhanced signal to produce the enhanced output signal.
3 more elements
A bass enhancement system for bass enhancing an audio input signal to produce an enhanced output signal, the system comprising:
- at least one filter configured for isolating a plurality of band signals from the audio input signal;
- an amplifier configured for amplifying one or more first band signals with an adjustable gain parameter to form a first enhanced signal;
- a psychoacoustic bass enhancement block configured for applying a psychoacoustic audio enhancement algorithm to one or more second band signals to form a second enhanced signal, wherein the psychoacoustic audio enhancement algorithm is controlled based on the one or more first band signals;
- a delay block configured for delaying one or more third band signals to form a delayed signal;
- and
- a mixer configured for mixing the delayed signal, the first enhanced signal and the second enhanced signal to produce the enhanced output signal.
