An optical resolution method, comprising:
- reacting a mixture of optically active amino acids with a compound represented by chemical formula (1):
- or chemical formula (2):
- to obtain a derivatized amino acid mixture;
- and
- subjecting the derivatized amino acid mixture to column chromatography to separate respective optical isomers of the derivatized amino acid mixture.
