Abstract
The present invention relates to phosphonate compounds, compositions containing them, processes for obtaining them, and their use for treating a variety of medical disorders, e.g., osteoporosis and other disorders of bone metabolism, cancer, viral infections, and the like.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of a compound of Formula I:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of the Formula II:
- wherein M+ is Na+, Li+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ or NRaRbRcRd+, wherein Ra, Rb, Rc and Rd are each independently hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl.
