A method for the reduction of mold, yeast, and bacterial outgrowth on a food product comprising treating the food product with needle shaped crystals of α-natamycin having a mean length of between 0.1 and 20 μm.
A pharmaceutical preparation comprising needle shaped crystal of α-natamycin having a mean length of between 0.1 and 20 μm, wherein said pharmaceutical preparation is suitable for topical application.
