Abstract
This disclosure is directed to broadband notch antennas. In one aspect, a notch antenna includes a dielectric plate having a first surface and a second surface located opposite the first surface. A conductive layer is disposed on the first surface and has a notch region that exposes the dielectric plate between edges of the conductive layer. The antenna also includes two or more frequency matching circuits that branch from the notch region. Each matching circuit is configured to send and receive electromagnetic radiation in a frequency band of a radio spectrum.
Claims7
A notch antenna comprising:
- a dielectric plate having a first surface and a second surface located opposite the first surface;
- a conductive layer disposed on the first surface, the conductive layer having a notched region that exposes the dielectric plate between edges of the conductive layer and tapers to form a central channel and includes two or more channels that branch from the central channel;
- and
- each of the two or more channels leads to one of two or more frequency matching circuits, each frequency matching circuit enabling the notch antenna to send and receive electromagnetic radiation in a different frequency band of a radio spectrum, wherein each of the two or more frequency matching circuits further comprises a capacitor and an inductor, wherein the capacitor of each frequency matching circuit is an opening in the conductive layer located at the end of the channel that branches from the central channel and the inductor of each frequency matching circuit is disposed on the second surface of the dielectric layer not opposite the channel or the capacitor.
