Abstract
A vehicle electrical power system includes a variable voltage converter. The variable voltage converter includes an inductor assembly having a housing that defines a chamber containing dielectric fluid. An inductor is disposed within the chamber and is in contact with the fluid. The power system also includes a pump configured to circulate the dielectric fluid to cool the inductor.
Claims19
A transmission comprising:
- a housing defining a chamber;
- an inductor assembly including a coil having exterior surface portions exposed to an interior of the chamber;
- and
- at least one gear disposed within the housing and configured to rotate relative to the housing and splash fluid onto the exterior surface portions to cool the inductor assembly.
A vehicle comprising:
- a transmission including gears lubricated by transmission fluid;
- and
- a variable voltage converter (VVC) including an inductor arranged such that the transmission fluid contacts the inductor to cool the inductor.
A vehicle electrical power system comprising:
- a variable voltage converter (VVC) including an inductor assembly having a housing defining a chamber containing dielectric fluid, and an inductor disposed within the chamber and in contact with the fluid;
- and
- a pump configured to circulate the dielectric fluid to cool the inductor.
