Abstract

A method for processing material that contains biomass. The material is led onto a conveyor. The conveyor conveys the material to an apparatus for mechanical processing and/or to a further processing plant. The moisture content is measured and/or the size of pieces of non-combustible material and/or the content of non-combustible material in the material flow is measured in connection with the conveyor. Based on at least one of the measurements, material is conveyed to the material to be conveyed for further processing and/or to the apparatus for mechanical processing, or to at least one material to be conveyed elsewhere than to the further processing plant or the apparatus for mechanical processing. Also a system for processing material that contains biomass.

Dependent claims

A method for processing a material that contains wood-based material, in which method the material is guided to a conveyor and by the conveyor to at least one of an apparatus for mechanical processing and to a further processing plant, the method comprising:

measuring the moisture content, the size of pieces of non-combustible material and the quantity of non-combustible material in the material in connection with said conveyor,
providing quality feedback data on the material, wherein the quality feedback data is based on the measured moisture content, the measured size of non-combustible material, and the measured quantity of non-combustible material in the material in connection with said conveyor,
conveying, on the basis of said measurements, measured material to at least one of the further processing plant and the apparatus of mechanical processing.

A system for processing material that contains wood-based material, the system comprising:

at least one conveyor;
and
an apparatus for mechanical processing;
wherein the system further comprises:
measuring devices for measuring the moisture content, the quantity of non-combustible material the size of pieces of non-combustible material in the material in connection with said conveyor,
wherein
the at least one conveyor is arranged for conveying said material, on the basis of said measurements, to a further processing plant or to the apparatus for mechanical processing;
and
the system further comprises:
a transfer apparatus for transferring said material from the conveyor, on the basis of said measurements to at least one other place;
and
a quality feedback system for producing quality feedback data on the material, wherein the quality feedback data is based on the measured moisture content, and the measured size and the measured quantity of non-combustible material from the material.
