Method and system for configuring a device for use over a communication network

An apparatus comprising a processor configured to:

• receive label information from a user device that is not registered for use by a user over a communication network of a service provider, the label information having been input, at the user device, via an optical label recognition process performed by the user device;
• process the label information to determine a pairing identifier assigned by the service provider, to a transmitter, wherein the transmitter is different than the user device and the transmitter includes a short range wireless broadcasting device;
• transmit the pairing identifier to the user device;
• determine that a pairing connection has been established, based on the pairing identifier, between the user device and the transmitter;
• receive location information that identifies a location of the user device or the transmitter;
• and
• initiate a registration procedure of the user device, with the communication network, when the pairing connection was successfully established, the registration procedure being additionally based on the location information.

A system comprising:

• a platform configured to
• receive label information from a user device that is not registered for use by a user over a communication network of a service provider, the label information having been input, at the user device, via an optical label recognition process performed by the device;
• process the label information to determine a pairing identifier, assigned by the service provider, to a transmitter, wherein the transmitter is different than the user device and the transmitter includes a short range wireless broadcasting device;
• transmit the pairing identifier to the user device;
• determine that a pairing connection has been established, based on the pairing identifier, between the user device and the transmitter;
• receive location information that identifies a location of the user device or the transmitter;
• and
• initiate a registration procedure of the user device, with the communication network, when the pairing connection was successfully established, the registration procedure being additionally based on the location information.
