Abstract
Information associated with messages and/or missed calls is provided to a subscriber. Calls received but not answered by the subscriber may be monitored. Each monitored call is classified as one of a missed call and a message. The monitored calls may be summarized based on a customizable rule set to create a summary. The summary is provided to the subscriber via, for example, a voice notification.

A computer-implemented method for organizing voice mail messages and instant messages, comprising:
- receiving, via a first application, one or more voice mail messages, wherein at least one voice mail message is received from a first user;
- receiving, via a second application, one or more instant messages, wherein at least one instant message is received from a second user, and wherein the second user is not associated with the first user;
- performing speech recognition on the one or more voice mail messages to convert speech of the one or more voice mail messages to text of the one or more voice mail messages;
- receiving a phrase that includes one or more words of text;
- identifying the at least one voice mail message and the at least one instant message as having text that includes the phrase;
- grouping the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one instant message having text that includes the phrase;
- and
- providing the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one instant message.
A computer system for organizing voice mail messages, comprising:
- a processor;
- a repository storing text of one or more voice mail messages and one or more text messages, wherein the one or more voice mail messages are received via a first application, and wherein the one or more text messages are received via a second application;
- and
- a memory storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the computer system to:
- receive a phrase that includes one or more words of text;
- identify from the repository at least one voice mail message and at least one text message having text that includes the phrase, wherein the at least one voice mail message was received from a first user and the at least one text message was received from a second user, and wherein the first user is not associated with the second user;
- group the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one text message having text that includes the phrase;
- and
- send to a user the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one text message.
A computer system for organizing voice mail messages and text messages, comprising:
- a memory storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by a processor cause the computer system to:
- receive, via a first application, one or more voice mail messages, wherein at least one voice mail message is received from a first user;
- receive, via a second application, one or more text messages, wherein at least one text message is received from a second user, and wherein the second user is not associated with the first user;
- perform speech recognition on the one or more voice mail messages to convert speech of the one or more voice mail messages to text of the one or more voice mail messages;
- receive a phrase that includes one or more words of text;
- identify the at least one voice mail message and the at least one text message as having text that includes the phrase;
- group the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one text message having text that includes the phrase;
- and
- display the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one text message;
- and
- the processor for executing the computer-executable instructions stored in the memory.
A computer-implemented method, the method comprising:
- receiving, via a first application, one or more voice mail messages, wherein at least one voice mail message is received from a first user;
- receiving, via a second application, one or more instant messages, wherein at least one instant message is received from a second user, and wherein the second user is not associated with the first user;
- receiving a phrase that includes one or more words of text;
- identifying from a repository the at least one voice mail message and the at least one instant message as having text that includes the phrase, the repository storing text of the one or more voice mail messages;
- grouping the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one instant message having text that includes the phrase;
- and
- presenting to a user the identified at least one voice mail message and the identified at least one instant message having text that includes the phrase.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
