Abstract
Nitrogen oxide storage catalysts comprising a substrate and at least two coating layers, where the second layer is substantially free of platinum, cerium and barium, and methods of manufacturing and using these nitrogen oxide storage catalysts are disclosed.
Claims19
A nitrogen oxide storage catalyst, comprising:
- (A) a substrate;
- (B) a first washcoat layer on the substrate, the first washcoat layer comprising a nitrogen oxide storage material comprising ceria support particles comprising barium carbonate supported on the ceria support particles;
- and
- (C) a second washcoat layer over the first washcoat layer, the second washcoat layer comprising rhodium in an amount about 5 g/ft3 supported on refractory metal oxide particles comprising alumina doped with up to 30% zirconia, wherein the second washcoat layer is substantially free of platinum, cerium, and barium, and compounds thereof.
