Abstract
The invention relates to antibacterial compounds of formula I wherein R1, U, V and A are as defined in the description, to pharmaceutical compositions containing them and uses of these compounds in the manufacture of medicaments for the treatment of bacterial infections.

A compound of formula I
- wherein
- R1 represents (C1-C3)alkyl, or (C3-C5)cycloalkyl;
- U represents CH or N;
- V represents O or S;
- and
- A represents a linker of 1-, 2-, or 3-membered saturated straight chain group which is attached to, or interrupted by a 6-membered cyclic group selected from cyclohexan-1,4-diyl, piperidin-1,4-diyl, or piperazin-1,4-diyl;
- wherein said linker group has a total of two or three nitrogen atoms, wherein said nitrogen atoms are separated from each other by at least two carbon atoms;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
