A process for producing ethanol, comprising contacting acetic acid and hydrogen in a reactor in the presence of a catalyst comprising a binder, a mixed oxide comprising cobalt and tin, and at least two promoter metals comprising ruthenium and bismuth.
A process for producing ethanol comprising contacting acetic acid and hydrogen in a reactor in the presence of a catalyst comprising a binder, ruthenium, bismuth, and a mixed oxide comprising tin, wherein the total tin loading of the catalyst is from 10 to 60 wt. %, based on the total metal content of the catalyst, wherein the catalyst is substantially free of silver, zinc, zirconium, cadmium, copper, manganese, molybdenum, and combinations thereof.
