Abstract
The invention comprises methods for treating and preventing a bacterial infection in a subject, methods for preparing a medicament for use in treating and preventing a bacterial infection in a subject, and pharmaceutical and veterinary antibacterial compositions when used therein.
Claims7
A method of treating or preventing a bacterial colonization or infection by Gram negative bacteria in a subject, the method comprising the step of:
- administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of robenidine or a therapeutically acceptable salt thereof and a compound or agent that removes or substantially removes or reduces the integrity of a bacterial cell wall wherein the compound or agent that removes or substantially removes or reduces the integrity of the cell wall of the bacteria is selected from the group consisting of:
- β-lactams, fosfomycin, lysozyme, polymyxins, chelating agents and immunological agents.
