Abstract
The present invention involves the preparation of a pharmaceutical liposomal system in an aqueous solution which contains a substance or polymer with mucomimetic and/or mucoadhesive properties. Due to the components and characteristics of the formulation described in this present patent it can be used as a precorneal tear film substitute. This invention is included in the pharmacy and medicine areas.
Claims19
An ophthalmic composition for use as a precorneal film substitute, comprising phosphatidylcholine liposomal vesicles obtained from soy lecithin containing α-tocopherol and cholesterol, wherein the liposomal vesicles, once formed, are dispersed in aqueous solution with trehalose and hyaluronic acid, and wherein the trehalose is present in the composition in an amount effective to render the ophthalmic composition isotonic or hypotonic in clinical use in a human eye.
