Abstract
A method for securing a dental implant within a dental bone cavity is disclosed. The method may include inserting a dental wedge into the dental bone cavity and allowing bone tissues to grow toward and at least partially surround the dental wedge. Dental implantation systems for implementing the method are also disclosed. The system can include a dental wedge adapted to be inserted into a dental bone cavity.
Claims12
A dental implantation system, comprising:
- a plurality of dental wedges including at least one of the plurality of dental wedges having one or more of a porous surface character, an outer frame with an open inner cavity, and a configuration that separates into several pieces after implantation, each of the dental wedges having a variety of differing form configurations having a geometric shape that is configured to correspond to at least one of the plurality of differently shaped dental bone cavities, each dental wedge including a securement feature configured to secure at least an apical end portion of a dental implant, the geometric shape of each dental wedge of the plurality of dental wedges corresponding to a shape of the at least one of the plurality of dental bone cavities such that the geometric shape of the dental wedge is maintained at insertion, and at least one of the dental wedges of the plurality of dental wedges maintains a space within the dental bone cavity for the dental implant.
