Abstract
An erasure fluid includes a vehicle, an erasure component incorporated into the vehicle, and a polymer. The erasure component interacts with a selected colorant of an erasable inkjet ink printed on a medium to erase the inkjet ink from the medium, and is chosen from persulfate ions, peroxymonosulfate ions, hydrogen peroxide, chlorate ions, hypochlorite ions, ascorbic acid, and a chelating agent. Further, the polymer is chosen from carboxymethylcelluloses, methyl celluloses, polyethylene glycols, guar gum, starches, and combinations thereof.

An erasure fluid, comprising:
- a vehicle;
- an erasure component incorporated into the vehicle, the erasure component being selected to interact with a selected colorant of an erasable inkjet ink printed on a paper medium to erase the inkjet ink from the paper medium, the erasure component being selected from the group consisting of persulfate ions, peroxymonosulfate ions, chlorate ions, ascorbic acid, and sodium bicarbonate;
- a polymer selected from the group consisting of carboxymethylcelluloses, methyl celluloses, polyethylene glycols, guar gum, starches, and combinations thereof;
- and
- a pH buffer selected from the group consisting of 3-(N-morpholino)propanesulfonic acid (MOPS), 3-morpholino-2-hydroxy-propanesulfonic acid (MOPSO), 1,4-piperazinediethanesulfonic acid (PIPES), and tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (TRIS);
- wherein the erasable ink is removable from the paper medium by degradation of the colorant in response to a chemical reaction between the colorant of the erasable ink composition and the erasure component.
An erasure fluid, comprising:
- a vehicle, comprising:
- 1,2-propanediol present in an amount ranging from about 10 wt % to about 15 wt %;
- and
- glycerol present in an amount ranging from about 10 wt % to about 15 wt %;
- an erasure component incorporated into the vehicle, the erasure component being selected to interact with a selected colorant of an erasable inkjet ink printed on a paper medium to erase the inkjet ink from the paper medium, the erasure component being sodium persulfate present in an amount ranging from about 1 wt % to about 3 wt % of the erasure fluid;
- and a pH buffer selected from the group consisting of 3-(N-morpholine)propanesulfonic acid (MOPS), 3-morpholino-2-hydroxy-propanesulfonic acid (MOPSO), 1,4-piperazinediethanesulfonic acid (PIPES), and tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (TRIS);
- wherein the erasable ink is removable from the paper medium by degradation of the colorant in response to a chemical reaction between the colorant of the erasable ink composition and the erasure component.
A method of making an erasure fluid, comprising:
- forming a vehicle comprising a solvent;
- adding an erasure component to the vehicle, the erasure component being selected from the group consisting of persulfate ions, peroxymonosulfate ions, chlorate ions, ascorbic acid, and sodium bicarbonate;

- wherein the erasure component is selected to interact with a selected colorant of an erasable inkjet ink printed on a paper medium to erase the inkjet ink from the paper medium;
- and wherein the erasable ink is removable from the paper medium by degradation of the colorant in response to a chemical reaction between the colorant of the erasable ink composition and the erasure component.
A printing system, comprising:
- an ink set comprising:
- an erasable inkjet ink including a colorant;
- and
- an erasure fluid comprising:
- a vehicle;
- an erasure component incorporated into the vehicle, the erasure component being selected to interact with the colorant of the erasable inkjet ink printed on a paper medium to erase the inkjet ink from the paper medium, the erasure component being selected from the group consisting of persulfate ions, peroxymonosulfate ions, chlorate ions, ascorbic acid, and sodium bicarbonate;
- and
- a polymer selected from the group consisting of carboxymethylcelluloses, methyl celluloses, polyethylene glycols, guar gum, starches, and combinations thereof;
- and a pH buffer selected from the group consisting of 3-(N-morpholine)propanesulfonic acid (MOPS), 3-morpholino-2-hydroxy-propanesulfonic acid (MOPSO), 1,4-piperazinediethanesulfonic acid (PIPES), and tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (TRIS);
- wherein the erasable inkjet ink is removable from the paper medium by degradation of the colorant in response to a chemical reaction between the colorant and the erasure component.
A printing system, comprising:
- a paper medium;
- an image formed on the paper medium from an erasable inkjet ink comprising a colorant;
- and
- an erasure fluid to be applied on at least a portion of the image to erase the at least a portion of the image from the paper medium, the erasure fluid comprising:
- a vehicle;
- an erasure component incorporated into the vehicle, the erasure component being selected to chemically react with the colorant of the erasable inkjet ink and to degrade the colorant of the erasable inkjet ink in order to erase the at least the portion of the image, the erasure component being selected from the group consisting of persulfate ions, peroxymonosulfate ions, chlorate ions, ascorbic acid, and sodium bicarbonate;
