Abstract
A method for recovering an endohedral metallofullerene comprises a complexation step of adding a Lewis acid comprising titanium halide or tin halide to a reaction solution formed by dissolving crude fullerenes in a solvent, thereby forming a complex of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid, a filtering step of filtering the reaction solution to separate the complex, and a washing step of removing the Lewis acid from the complex to obtain the endohedral metallofullerene. The obtained endohedral metallofullerene is soluble in a solvent. This method provides a high recovery yield of the endohedral metallofullerene.

A method for recovering an endohedral metallofullerene from crude fullerenes, comprising:
- adding a Lewis acid comprising at least one of titanium halide and tin halide to a reaction solution formed by dissolving the crude fullerenes in a solvent, thereby forming a solution comprising a complex of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid;
- filtering the solution comprising the complex of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid to separate the complex;
- and
- removing the Lewis acid from the separated complex by washing said complex to obtain the endohedral metallofullerene,
- wherein a reaction time of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid is not less than 0.2 seconds and less than 1 hour.
A method for recovering an endohedral metallofullerene from crude fullerenes, comprising:
- adding a Lewis acid comprising at least one of titanium halide and tin halide to a reaction solution formed by dissolving the crude fullerenes in a solvent, thereby forming a solution comprising a complex of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid;
- filtering the solution comprising the complex of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid to separate the complex;
- and
- removing the Lewis acid from the separated complex by washing said complex to obtain the endohedral metallofullerene,
- wherein the crude fullerenes are extracted from soot generated by applying wheat treatment to a composite rod of carbon and a metal wherein a reaction time of the endohedral metallofullerene and the Lewis acid is not less than 0.2 seconds and less than 1 hour.
