## Abstract

A method of receiving a call by recognizing a posture of a user in a portable terminal is provided. The method includes identifying whether a call reception event occurs, detecting a motion in which the user brings the portable terminal to an ear by using a posture detecting sensor, when the call reception event occurs, and connecting the call upon detecting the motion.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A portable terminal comprising:
a first sensor configured to sense motion;
a second sensor configured to sense a proximity of the portable terminal to an object; and
a controller configured to control to:
detect a call reception;
detect a motion of the portable terminal via the first sensor in response to detecting the call reception;
detect the proximity of the portable terminal to the object via the second sensor in response to detecting the motion of the portable terminal; and
establish a call connection in accordance with the call reception,
wherein the call connection is established based on a determination that the detected motion substantially corresponds to a predetermined motion and a detected proximity value of the second sensor of the portable terminal to the object substantially corresponds to a predetermined proximity value.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The portable terminal according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined motion is an upwardly rotated motion.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The portable terminal according to claim 1, wherein the object is an ear of a user.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The portable terminal according to claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to detect the motion of the portable terminal via the first sensor until the call is terminated.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The portable terminal according to claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to detect the motion of the portable terminal via the first sensor until a button is pressed to catch a call.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The portable terminal according to claim 1, wherein the first sensor is at least one of an accelerometer sensor or a terrestrial magnetic sensor.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The portable terminal according to claim 1, wherein the second sensor is at least one of a proximity sensor or a luminance sensor.

### Claim 8

A method in a portable terminal, the method comprising:
detecting a call reception;
in response to detecting the call reception, detecting, by a first sensor, a motion of the portable terminal;
in response to detecting the motion of the portable terminal, detecting, by a second sensor, a proximity of the portable terminal to an object; and
establishing a call connection in accordance with the call reception,
wherein the call connection is established based on a determination that the detected motion substantially corresponds to a predetermined motion and a detected proximity value of the second sensor of the portable terminal to the object substantially corresponds to a predetermined proximity value.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, wherein the predetermined motion is an upwardly rotated motion.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, wherein the object is an ear of a user.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, further comprising, detecting the motion of the portable terminal until the call is terminated.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, further comprising, detecting the motion of the portable terminal until a button is pressed to catch a call.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, wherein the first sensor is at least one of an accelerometer sensor or a terrestrial magnetic sensor.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, wherein the second sensor is at least one of a proximity sensor or a luminance sensor.

### Claim 15

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program, that when executed, causes at least one processor to:
detect a call reception;
in response to detecting the call reception, detect, by a first sensor, a motion of the portable terminal;
in response to detecting the motion of the portable terminal, detect, by a second sensor, proximity of the portable terminal to an object; and
establish a call connection in accordance with the call reception,
wherein the call connection is established based on a determination that the detected motion substantially corresponds to a predetermined motion and a detected proximity value of the second sensor of the portable terminal to the object substantially corresponds to a predetermined proximity value.
