## Abstract

A zoom lens and a photographing apparatus including the zoom lens are provided. The zoom lens includes a first lens group having a positive refractive power, a second lens group having a negative refractive power, a third lens group having a positive refractive power, and a fourth lens group having a positive refractive power, all of which are arranged sequentially from an object side to an image side. The second lens group may include a first negative lens, a second negative lens, and a first positive lens. The second lens group may also satisfy 5.6≦|fG2n2/fw|≦10.0, where fG2n2 is a focal length of the second negative lens therein and fw is an overall focal length of the zoom lens at a wide-angle position.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A zoom lens comprising:
a first lens group having a positive refractive power, a second lens group having a negative refractive power, a third lens group having a positive refractive power, and a fourth lens group having a positive refractive power, all of which are arranged sequentially from an object side to an image side,
wherein the second lens group comprises a first negative lens, a second negative lens, and a first positive lens, and satisfies 5.6≦|fG2n2/fw|≦10.0, where fG2n2 is a focal length of the second negative lens in the second lens group, and fw is an overall focal length of the zoom lens at a wide-angle position,
wherein the third lens group comprises a third positive lens and a fourth positive lens, each of the third and fourth positive lenses having a double-convex shape, and a fourth negative lens, and
wherein the zoom lens further satisfies 0.65<|fG2n/fG2|<0.85, where fG2n is an effective focal length of the first and second negative lenses in the second lens group, and fG2 is an overall focal length of the second lens group.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein the second negative lens in the second lens group is made of plastic.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The zoom lens of claim 2, wherein the zoom lens further satisfies 1.5≦|fG2_n2|/√(fw*ft)≦3.0, where ft is an overall focal length of the zoom lens at a telephoto position.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein upon zooming from the wide-angle position to the telephoto position, distances between the first and second lens groups and between the third and fourth lens groups increase while a distance between the second and third lens groups decreases.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein the first lens group comprises a third negative lens and a second positive lens.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The zoom lens of claim 5, wherein the third negative lens in the first lens group has a meniscus shape that is convex toward the object side.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The zoom lens of claim 5, wherein the third negative lens and the second positive lens in the first lens group are cemented together to form a doublet lens.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein at least one of the third and fourth positive lenses has at least one aspherical surface.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein the fourth lens group comprises one fifth positive lens.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The zoom lens of claim 9, wherein the fifth positive lens is made of plastic.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein the fourth lens group performs focusing.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The zoom lens of claim 1, wherein the second negative lens in the second lens group has a meniscus shape that is convex toward the object side.

### Claim 13

A zoom lens comprising:
a first lens group having a positive refractive power, a second lens group having a negative refractive power, a third lens group having a positive refractive power, and a fourth lens group having a positive refractive power, all of which are arranged sequentially from an object side to an image side,
wherein the second lens group comprises a first negative lens, a second negative lens, and a first positive lens, and satisfies 5.6≦|fG2n2/fw|≦10.0, where fG2n2 is a focal length of the second negative lens in the second lens group, and fw is an overall focal length of the zoom lens at a wide-angle position,
wherein the third lens group comprises a third positive lens and a fourth positive lens, each of the third and fourth positive lenses having a double-convex shape, and a fourth negative lens, and
wherein the fourth positive lens and the fourth negative lens are cemented together to form a doublet lens.

### Claim 14

A photographing apparatus comprising:
