## Abstract

The invention provides a novel bentonite-fiberglass fire blanket, comprising: bentonite and fiberglass and an optional mesh fabric, such as cheesecloth.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A fire blanket comprising:
a. a fiberglass blanket having first and second sides;
b. a bentonite;
c. a 1st layer of a mesh fabric located over the first side of the blanket and in contact with the bentonite; and,
d. a 2nd layer of a mesh fabric located over the second side of the blanket and in contact with the bentonite;
wherein the bentonite is dispersed throughout the interstices of the fiberglass blanket.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The fire blanket of claim 1, wherein the mesh fabric is 10-100 grade cheesecloth.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The fire blanket of claim 1, wherein the mesh fabric is 50 grade cheesecloth.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The fire blanket of claim 1, wherein the mesh fabric is fiberglass mesh.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The fire blanket of claim 1, further comprising:
e. a 1st layer of bentonite in contact with the 1st layer of a mesh fabric;
f. a 3rd layer of a mesh fabric located over the 1st layer of bentonite;
g. a 2nd layer of bentonite in contact with the 2nd layer of a mesh fabric;
h. a 4th layer of a mesh fabric located over the 2nd layer of bentonite.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The fire blanket of claim 5, wherein the mesh fabric is 10-100 grade cheesecloth.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The fire blanket of claim 5, wherein the mesh fabric is 50 grade cheesecloth.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The fire blanket of claim 5, wherein the mesh fabric is 100 grade cheesecloth.

### Claim 9 (depends on 5)

The fire blanket of claim 5, wherein the mesh fabric is fiberglass mesh.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The fire blanket of claim 1, further comprising:
i. water, wherein the water is absorbed by the bentonite.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The fire blanket of claim 10, wherein the bentonite is fully saturated with water.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The fire blanket of claim 10, wherein the amount of bentonite and water present is from 20-70% by weight.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The fire blanket of claim 1, wherein the amount of bentonite present is from 10-50% by weight.
